I often teach concepts related to personality disorders and this question has often popped up in my classes and I am still looking for an answer. Why is schizoid personality disorder considered a disorder as the individual suffering from have a lack of interest in people and relationships and they seem fine with it. If they are not bothered by it or are not really bothering people around them. Then why is it a disorder?
